NCG 281 is also known as The Pacman Nebula

Fun Facts

  • Distance from Earth – 9,200 light-years away
  • Location – found in the Cassiopeia Constellation
  • What is it – Bright emission nebula
  • Size – about 48 light-years across
  • Discovered by Edward Emerson Barnard in August 1883

The image above is made up of 20 5-minute exposures and processed in PixInsight.

The moon was nearly full but low in the sky, but I think the Baader Contrast Booster filter did a lot of work here removing the sky glow.
